DEB LEROUX
Mover & Shaker - Founder of BC Woman Lead

Your proudest moment, personally: Youngest Daughters Graduation from UBCO and Oldest Daughters journey to Motherhood
What is the riskiest thing you have ever done? Business Ownership
Tell us about any award or honours you have received? Nominated Woman of the Year North Okanagan 2008 and 2013
Are there any social / political issues you feel passionately about? More women in elected office, and on boards, and financial literacy for everyone I know.
What makes you laugh? The 'rollercoaster' that appears anytime someone makes a 'plan'
Who inspires you and why? My Great Grandmother is my Hero and My Daughters and My Granddaughter inspire me with their HUGE spirits and drive.
The name of your business? BC Women Lead
What does your business do: Business and Leadership Conferences that inspire participants to say #hellya!
When and how did you get started in this field?
First conference 2014, 2nd Annual March 26 & 27, 2015 Four Points Sheraton Kelowna Airport. In 2009 I got 'mad' that big conferences for women were in large centres, which we could not all afford to travel to or attend. In 2013 started planning BC Women Lead 2014 and SOLD IT OUT!
What sets your business apart from others in the same field? How is your business different? Straight forward and usable 'tools' for the participants. No chocolate fountains or fashion shows for this group! Current challenges we each face in business whether we are corporate, entrepreneurial or in the NFP sector. #bringit
Proudest moment, professionally The full room for BC Women Lead 2014 and how long everyone stayed at the end, sharing excitement and helping each other #leanin .
What constitutes success for you, in business? Drawing forth inner strengths in others, that may not have realized were so dynamic, and watching them SOAR!
Final Thoughts: Founding the BC Women Lead Conference is a culmination of my intense belief in the Power of Women and their Business Acumen, as well as the strength and diversity that is delivered through mentoring experiences. To provide solid support for each woman as she both finds her own way, and walks in the footsteps of others, is a privilege I take seriously. Stewardship of this project speaks to the core of my own business strength, a drive to be of service to others and the rewards of co-creating in community with those who are like-minded, passionate and effective.
