Vernon teen. Samantha Sewell was Crowned Miss Teenage Okanagan, March 1st in Richmond BC, securing her a spot in the Miss Teenage Canada Pageant which will be held August 9th 2015 in Toronto. This was the first pageant that Samantha had entered and she was one of 15 girls from BC to win a crown and to become a Miss Teenage Canada finalist. The Miss Teenage Canada program focuses on finding girls with confidence, interview skills, poise, grace and physical fitness.
Samantha is an honor roll student and volunteers at her school and in the community; she loves to volunteer and peer tutor in her school's Resource Room and plans on becoming a Special Education Teacher. Samantha's platform is anti bullying and inclusion for all and this is something she plans on addressing during her year long reign as Miss Teenage Okanagan. Sam is a part of the Leadership and Service clubs at the school and is currently working on her Duke of Edinburgh award.
Samantha has attended 50 events since her coronation and is hoping that by doing this she will earn a fast track into the top twenty at the Miss Teenage Canada Competition, if she can secure a top twenty spot it will be the first time an Okanagan finalist has done so. There are 5 ways to be fast tracked into the top twenty these include best in fitness/swimsuit, most photogenic, best runway/stage presence, events/social media or fundraising and peoples choice award. The people's choice award is a great opportunity for the people of the Okanagan to show their support and vote for their representative. You can do this by going to missteenagecanada.com and clicking on the VIP club button. Voting for Peoples Choice will start on August 2nd but you can register now, the voting is free.
This year MTC has the delegates fundraising for Free the Children, Samantha is asking for donations and has also set up a go fund me for this purpose. In past years MTC has been able to build a school through Free the Children and they are hoping to raise enough funds to build another one. Samantha will get on a plane and head to Toronto on August 2nd where she will spend nine days with the other 80 plus Miss Teenage Canada contestants. They will see the sights of Toronto and attend media events, as well as practice dance routines interviewing skills and runway walking. Although it sounds fun, and it is, it is also a lot of hard work with many very long days. Samantha will also continue to blog about her MTC journey and will post on all of her social media sites to keep everyone up to date on what she is doing.
If Samantha were to win the title of Miss Teenage Canada she would continue to attend events and to speak about her platform, and she would also share with the rest of the country what a wonderful place the Okanagan is to live in and to and visit. S
