We had some wonderful letters from proud daughters about their amazing Dads. It was a tough decision, but we couldn't resist lovely Olivia's hand written note. One thing is abundantly clear - Daughters in the Okanagan sure love their Dads!
Olivia May Salmon - Aged 9 3/4
From Mum - Mia Salmon
My daughter Olivia (on the left) wrote the above story about her Dad, Matthew Salmon. Her Dad is always getting told he deserves a medal by people when we are out, as you can see he already has lots of medals from his time in the Army! I think he would say being a dad to these 3 girls is the hardest job though!

Congratulations to the runners up and to all who entered. In our book - er sorry - magazine! You are all #1 Dad's. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!
My dad is THE most amazing dad in the world. He's my best friend, role model & my hero. No matter what's happening, there's no doubt, my dad will be there. I can count on him anytime for anything at all. We laugh together, cry together & talk about everything. We've gone through a lot of ups and downs, good times & hard, & if there's one thing I know, it's that I wouldn't be here without him. I don't know how I got to be so lucky to have him as my dad, but I'm beyond blessed & thankful. I couldn't be more proud to call him my dad! He'll never know how much he means to me, or how much he's done for me, & there's no way I could eve thank him enough, but I will forever continue to tell him how lucky I am, and how much I love him.

Our dad is Okanagan's best because despite growing up with three brothers and planning to have sons to teach how to play hockey and baseball, he got stuck raising three girls instead! Even though ponies, dolls and makeup replaced sports, he has always been enthusiastic to participate in our lives. He has now been blessed with three grandsons that he happily teaches hockey to now. He has not only whole-heartedly served his family for many years, but he also served his community for nearly two decades in local and federal politics. He has shown us what it means to be a hard-working father, grandpa, husband and leader with integrity, honesty and faith. He is always there for everyone and anyone; he is the first we call when something goes wrong in our lives and we can always depend on dad to be there for us.
